Mizan: we know where your child is, and see how far they've grown
A short test that adapts to your child: each question is chosen based on the previous answer, estimating their level in usually 20 to 30 questions. It uses the well-known adaptive testing method (the Rasch model), its questions are linked to national curriculum standards, and it is taken three times a year: at the start, middle and end. For now, its result is a preliminary estimate of level, for practice purposes. How the scale works, and its limits
- One score that runs across grades, so you can see your child grow from one test to the next and from grade to grade.
- Five areas: letters and sounds, vocabulary, understanding literary texts, understanding informational texts, and spelling and grammar.
- Reading level opens the books at their level in the library, and the report says what they're ready to learn next.
- Practice tasks for weak spots: every skill they need becomes a task in «My tasks», opening the exact step that trains it, and the next test measures their progress.
- A fairer result: if a child answers too fast to have read the question, the answer doesn't count and we remind them to slow down.
